ADOPTION OF MASTIFF IS A GREAT CHOICE EVEN IF IT IS A LARGE DOG
There are many breeds of large lovable dogs that make wonderful family pets. They are not well suited for small homes, apartment or condominiums, as they require more space to roam and exercise. A large home with a big backyard or country living is ideal. Large dogs are often very social and great with older children. These lovable monsters can knock over smaller children accidentally. Make sure that whatever breed of large dog you might consider, always learn as much about the breed as possible. Large dogs eat more so cost more to feed. You must supply your dog with a high quality food, balanced specifically for larger breed dogs and the same for large breed puppies. Large breed dogs are usually much rougher on their toys, so make sure any you purchase are durable, big and sturdy. Now how adoption of mastiff can be a great choice? Is mastiff such a brilliant dog that any one can adopt it? If you a real big dog lover then from my point of view you should go for mastiff only. The Mastiff originated in Great Britain. They come from the mastiff family which is one of the oldest and most influential dog breeds. Like the mastiff family, the Mastiff is also an ancient breed that has been around since before the time of Caesar. Mastiff dogs are powerfully built animals with a muscular frame. They have a short, straight, course coat. These dogs have healthy well spaced teeth. When a Mastiff dog isn’t feeling well they tend to make every effort to keep up a normal appearance. An owner would need to pay close attention to and very observant to pick up the signs that their Mastiff is sick. When acquiring a Mastiff it is important to gain his respect at an early age. If the dog learns to listen and follow orders when he is a puppy, he will be very happy to obey when he is 230 pounds. Other things to beware of when looking for a Mastiff for a pet is to make sure the mother is older than 22 months and younger than seven years, and that the prospective owners check the parents’ hip and elbow certificates to verify that they do have hip or elbow dysphasia. The only drawbacks to this dog are the amount of food they require and the space they need indoors. They are not active indoors, but like to stretch out in comfort. They require very little grooming, are generally very healthy, and very easy to train. Mastiff dogs, which are often used as guard dogs nowadays, have been popular around the world for many years. A lot of years ago, around 864 to 600 BC, mastiff dogs were used as hunting dogs and they were capable of taking on large prey. They were considered an aggressive dog breed back then and were not kept as household animals. They were protective but difficult to tame. These days, we have gained insights into the world and health of our dogs and we can bond with them and understand them much better.
Adoption of a mastiff is an honorable choice and I hope you pursue this choice. There are some things to be aware of before you go head on. I thought you should know the risk the benefits and what to expect when deciding to adopt a new mastiff. For the most part the mastiffs found abandoned are undernourished, under-trained, with no identifiable means. So you could end up with a genetically lower breed with various health problems that can later arise to the tune of large vet bills. Mastiff rescue centers will make every effort to rehabilitate the once lost animal so that it’s ready and healthy for adoption well the adoption process is not quick when dealing with a shelter or mastiff rescue center. You’ll need to provide some information on an application (they will provide you) and some of the requested information can be personal as they want to ensure the mastiff will not end up on the street again. Any Waiting times are also common, sometimes you have a request for a specific mastiff within a certain age bracket, and sometimes the shelter just will not have any mastiffs; on the waiting list you go and hope for the best. To have a healthy Mastiff dog avoid obesity. Not only does obesity put stress on the bones and joints, it also puts stress on the dog’s heart, kidneys, liver, as well as other organs. A well balanced diet and plenty of exercise can ensure that your Mastiff is not obese. A healthy Mastiff dog is a sight to behold! As an owner you can contribute to his good health through excellent nutrition, daily exercise, and regular veterinary exams.
